536 Dancers Break Incredible World Record

(RepublicanNews.org) – World records are nothing short of amazing feats, and people can go to great lengths to put their names in the Guinness Book. Breaking these records is nothing to laugh at, and sometimes the feats brings teams of people together. One new record gets jiggy with it!

On November 21, 2021, 536 people gathered at the request of cable network Black Entertainment Television (BET). The large group found themselves in New York, performing a Soul Train dance.

BET organized the record-breaking event as part of the Soul Train Awards to celebrate 50 years of BET’s Soul Train Awards. The Guinness World Records had an adjudicator on-site to ensure the crowd danced correctly, going in pairs for at least 40 feet.

BET mentioned some of the original dancers from the hit TV show “Soul Train” attended the event along with the 40+ Dutch Double Club, the Brooklyn United marching band, and hundreds of locals. The 536 people danced through Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem.

Guinness ensured there were 536 people present for the event and named the group the new owners of the world record for the longest soul train line. The previous record-holders were a group of 426 dancers at the Goodyear Ballpark in Arizona in 2014.
