Biden Admin GREEN LIGHTS Controversial Migrant Policy – Angers Both Parties!

Biden Admin's Policy on Venezuelans Creates Controversy

Biden Admin’s Policy on Venezuelans Leads To Criticism

( – President Joe Biden still hasn’t managed to bring the chaos at the Mexican border under control after more than a year and a half in office. Record numbers of illegal immigrants are still swamping Southern states, and GOP governors are taking the radical step of busing migrants to liberal-run cities in response. Now, the POTUS is taking another step — one that has managed to infuriate the Left and the Right.

Socialist Chaos Sparks New Migrant Flood

From the 1930s to the 1980s, Venezuela was the wealthiest country in Latin America, but overspending in the mid-80s started to dent the economy. In 1999, the country elected the socialist Bolivarian movement, which has ruled it ever since, and it’s been an economic disaster. Now thousands of Venezuelans are flooding into the US to escape poverty and starvation, and most are doing it illegally.

Now, the Biden administration is trying to act on the ongoing border issues. On October 12, the administration announced a new joint operation with Mexico to apply Title 42 of the United States Code to Venezuelan immigrants. Title 42 is part of the 1944 Public Health Service Act, but former president Donald Trump used it to expel immigrants COVID-19 pandemic. By issuing a public health order highlighting the risk from potentially infected border crossers, he enabled Customs and Border Patrol to expel Mexican migrants back to Mexico. When Biden took office, many Democrats called for the end of the use of Title 42. Instead, it seems the administration hopes to use it as a means of expelling more migrants.

The new plan involves accepting up to 24,000 Venezuelans legally, while any others who try to enter unlawfully will be returned to Mexico. According to a statement from the DHS, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the plan is intended to “make clear” that “lawful entry is the only way” for Venezuelans to come to the United States. The US and Mexico have also reportedly agreed to increase their efforts to crack down on human trafficking and smuggling.

Bipartisan Frustration

Democrats and pro-immigration activists have expressed disappointment in the move. According to Fox News, Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) called the move “inexcusable” and demanded the 46th president abandon his plan. Meanwhile, Theresa Brown of the Bipartisan Policy Center tweeted claiming that illegal immigrants are “certainly no longer” a legitimate health concern, while Human Rights First director Eleanor Acer was reported by The Hill saying Biden is “embracing the Trump playbook” and suggesting it’s a political move. The Southern Poverty Law Center, Human Rights Watch, and other far-left groups are also protesting.

However, some conservatives are condemning the move too, but for different reasons. Representative John Katko (R-NY) was quoted by Fox News slamming Biden for a “cynical and inadequate” attempt to do something about the border crisis; others, such as Federation for American Immigration Reform official RJ Hauman, don’t see why the US can only turn back Venezuelans under this new plan.

What do you think of the Biden administration’s new plan to address the immigration problem?
