Billionaire Caught Bullying Joe Manchin Behind Closed Doors

( – Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) is quickly becoming a wrench in the Democratic machine. He steadfastly refuses to cave in to the party’s demands. Manchin, who stands as one of the last lines of defense against the DNC’s effort to dissolve the filibuster and pass Biden’s Build Back Better (BBB) bill, has thus far turned down requests from his colleagues to get on board with either initiative. The party is now turning to rich and famous figureheads in their attempts to leverage the moderate senator.

According to Politico, a person familiar with the situation stated Manchin himself admits to receiving phone calls and messages from people outside the Senate, including former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Now, former talk show host Oprah Winfrey is joining the same fight — bullying the senator in the process.

Despite facing immense pressure, Manchin continues to hold firm. The senator says his job is about doing what the people want rather than what motivates DNC members. He cited voter dismay over Biden’s massive spending plan as an example of the wide berth that so often occurs between the party and its constituents.

In December, Manchin told hosts at Fox News Sunday that the BBB bill would increase the national debt by $3 trillion over the next 10 years. At the time, he surmised the move would skyrocket inflation rates to extremely high levels.

This leftist attempt at peer pressure shows just how desperate Democrats really are to push Biden’s spending plan through. Midterm elections loom in the distance; many leaders face seat loss as a result of declining popularity. The rich and famous clearly have an unfair advantage over everyday Americans, as they can flex their wealth and influence to contact lawmakers directly on personal telephone lines.
