Cancel Culture Hits Beloved Children’s Author

Cancel Culture Hits Beloved Children's Author

( – Although cancel culture is nothing new, it’s taken on a new meaning recently. The act of publicly shaming individuals for behaving politically incorrectly recently expanded to include social media sites and news organizations banishing individuals and companies from their platforms and networks.

In the latest installment of the practice, Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced on March 2 it would halt future publication of six books by Theodor Seuss Geisel, otherwise known as Dr. Seuss.

The announcement probably shouldn’t come as any surprise. Joe Biden failed to mention Dr. Seuss’s name in his “Read Across America Day” proclamation. That event is held annually on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Donald Trump and Barack Obama recognized Dr. Seuss’s contribution to children’s literature in their announcements.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) weighed in on the issue, pointing out that the beloved children’s author wouldn’t have fallen victim to the cancel culture had he embraced Leftist ideals like defunding the police.

Rep. Jordan spoke out against the cancel culture over the weekend at the annual CPAC event and requested the House Judiciary Committee hold hearings on the practice in a March 1 letter. We will keep you updated on the status of that request.
