(RepublicanNews.org) – Pride Month has been touted by governments and organizations, at least in and around the tolerant Western / Christian world, as a way of promoting equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans people who have suffered discrimination in one form or another.
It is not something that is particularly in vogue in other cultures – just try standing on a street corner in Jeddah and declaring your support of the LGBT cause and see where it gets you – but most reasonable and tolerant people in the Western Christian world would agree that we should not blindly discriminate against such people.
That is until overzealous activists came along and ruined it for everyone with their aggressive attitudes and insistence that we all had to do things their way or be labeled bigots. Now even LGB people have had enough and are making the point that Pride month is no longer about equality and inclusivity – it is exclusive, loud, oppressive, and inaccessible to anyone who might have a different point of view.
However, a conservative Christian professor has come up with an alternative to Pride Month that falls into the category of “Why didn’t I think of that?” It’s called Fidelity Month and celebrates fidelity to one’s country, community, family, and God.
Dr. Robert P. George, a professor at Princeton University, has launched social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, as well as his own website – to raise awareness of the importance of family and community, God, and one’s country. His intent is to counter the woke ideology that has seen the promotion of inappropriately-themed products aimed at young people and an increasing drive to “adultify” schoolchildren.
His idea came after a recent poll in the Wall Street Journal that highlighted a sharp decline in traditional American values and beliefs in religion, community, country, and family. He is calling for public officials, legislators, religious figures, and other organizations to recognize and celebrate Fidelity Month.
