Congressman Says Nancy Pelosi Will Not Stay on as House Speaker (REPORT)

(RepublicanNews.org) – The 2020 presidential election outcome remains unknown, and voters won’t determine who controls the Senate until the completion of two runoff elections in January 2021. However, Republicans picked up several seats in the House of Representatives.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) predicted Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would lose her position as top Democrat during a November 8 interview with Fox News.

Speaking to Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, McCarthy explained that becoming House Speaker requires 218 votes. Although Pelosi received enough votes to take over after the 2018 midterm elections, 15 Democrats voted against her.

Voters returned 10 of them to Congress during last week’s election. With Republican gains in the House, Pelosi won’t win reelection as House Speaker if they vote against her again. All Republicans need is for “a few Democrats” to join them, and they control the House floor.

As McCarthy concluded, American voters sent a clear message to Congress to abandon the Democratic-led push towards socialism. The sooner the House gets a Republican speaker, the better it will be for America.
