DeSantis Awards Recruitment Bonuses to Cape Coral Officers

(RepublicanNews.org) – In the midst of dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced plans to give back to the men and women of law enforcement. A handful of officers recently recruited within the state are receiving bonuses.

DeSantis met with officers in Cape Coral to provide six $5,000 bonuses. Two of the individuals were completely new to the job. The other four had prior law enforcement experience but had recently relocated from Georgia, New York, and Maryland.

In a statement, Governor DeSantis said he was ecstatic to “hand deliver” the checks and expressed his gratitude toward the officers for choosing to serve in Florida. He pointed out how the response from law enforcement in the aftermath of Ian displayed their “heroism” and solidified why Americans needed to support the police.

The Cape Coral officers are only a handful of the many across the state that will receive a $5,000 recruitment bonus in the near future. The Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Payment Program encourages residents to join up but also urges those currently serving in other regions to relocate by offering them the same incentives.

All six of the Cape Coral officers in this story became members of the law enforcement community just before Hurricane Ian hit. But like so many other first responders and emergency workers, they put their all into serving the people of Florida.
