(RepublicanNews.org) – The Democratic-led effort to impeach former President Donald Trump is finally over, with the Senate voting to acquit him by a vote of 57 to 43. Democrats responded as one might expect, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) bursting into a press conference called by House impeachment managers to lash out at Republican senators.
Sen. Lindsey Graham spoke to Trump by phone shortly after the Senate vote, reporting that the former president told him he was ready to move on and get back to the task at hand — helping Republicans retake power in the House and Senate in the 2022 midterm election cycle.

The Office of Donald Trump released a lengthy statement later in the day. He thanked his lawyers for their “tireless” efforts along with all the senators and representatives who “proudly” stood up for the Constitution and its “sacred legal principles.” He also tore into Democrats for their ongoing “witch hunt” and persecution of anyone expressing an opposing viewpoint.
Turning his attention to his supporters, he praised them for their “patriotic” efforts to help him “Make America Great Again,” relating that “our incredible journey together” has only just begun.
As Trump pointed out, working together, there’s nothing patriotic Americans can’t accomplish.
