FBI's Peter Strzok Secretly Searched Trump Official's Records

(RepublicanNews.org) – A document filed by lawyers representing former national security advisor Michael Flynn shed light on the efforts of former FBI Deputy Assistant Director Peter Strzok to connect someone close to Donald Trump to the Russians.

The document reveals elaborate maneuvering on the part of Strzok to gain access to Flynn’s phone and email records using National Security Letters (NSLs).

Strzok filed a total of seven NSLs — a kind of secret subpoena — on Flynn between February 7 and March 7, 2017. Strzok already knew former Trump campaign advisor George Papadopoulos had allegedly been in contact with Russian officials in May 2016.

However, Strzok sought the NSLs to “identify” other members of the Trump campaign who may have been “wittingly or unwittingly targeted by the Russians.”

The documents open a window into the elaborate efforts by Strzok to find dirt on someone associated with Trump’s campaign. However, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s two-year investigation failed to uncover any evidence of collusion with Russia on the part of President Trump or his campaign.

Perhaps it’s time for Judge Emmet Sullivan, the federal judge overseeing Flynn’s case, to finally put an end to this charade and accept the Department of Justice recommendations to dismiss all charges against the former NSA.
