(RepublicanNews.org) – Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden refuses to say whether he’d increase the number of justices serving on the Supreme Court if he gets elected. However, he had a strong opinion on the matter while serving on the Senate Judiciary Committee 37 years ago, calling the proposition a “bonehead idea.”

The 1983 hearing focused on then-President Ronald Reagan’s effort to replace three members of the US Commission on Civil Rights. Biden said such an act would destroy the commission’s credibility, likening it to President Franklin Roosevelt’s unsuccessful 1937 bid to add six justices to the US Supreme Court.
According to Biden, although Roosevelt had the clear authority “to pack the court,” it would have been a “bonehead idea… a terrible mistake.” Continuing, he added that such a move would “put into question” the political independence of the nation’s “most significant body,” the US Supreme Court.
It’s clear Biden has no intention of telling America his intentions regarding the Supreme Court while President Donald Trump’s plan is crystal clear. Perhaps that’s food for thought for undecided voters as the country continues early voting.
