(RepublicanNews.org) – Johnny Depp stepped up on the podium to testify against his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard. The two divorced in 2016, and Heard wrote an op-ed in 2018, claiming to be a survivor of domestic violence and abuse. Naturally, many people began pointing fingers at Depp. The actor soon found himself losing his role in Pirates of the Caribbean over the criticism and alleged abuse. He filed a defamation suit against his former lover in response.

During Depp’s courtroom testimony, the actor recalled his childhood, detailing the abuse he put up with as a child from his mother. He claimed she was as cruel as a person could be both physically and verbally.
Depp also mentioned how his father attempted to stay, at least at first. The actor’s father eventually gave in and left home for good. During his time on the stand, Depp testified about Heard, saying she had severed one of his fingertips.
Heard never directly named Depp in her op-ed, but the fallout against him has been severe all the same. The actress filed a counter-libel suit in response to Depp’s defamation suit; she requested $100 million in damages.
The actor’s legal team provided the courtroom with additional evidence in the form of photos and audio recordings. In one, Heard admits she struck Depp but dismisses the attack by claiming she wasn’t punching him at the time. The actress then counters by claiming Depp caused the bruise present on her face in a photo. She also accused him of pulling her hair and punching her several times.
It’s hard to know who’s telling the truth here. Perhaps they both are, or maybe neither remembers the events that took place accurately. A former therapist for the couple claims the two movie stars mutually abused each other, while others say Depp was never violent toward Heard.
