Missing Teen Discovered After 8 Years

(RepublicanNews.org) – A Texas man has been found over eight years since he went missing as a teenager in Houston. An investigator reported that the now 25-year-old Rudy Farias was discovered sleeping outside a church only 8 miles from where he had lived when he was initially reported missing.

Sources differ on Farias’ age at the time of his disappearance. Some are reporting him as a 17-year-old minor at the time and others are saying he was an 18-year-old adult. All agree that his last sighting was on March 6th, 2015, when he was walking his dogs close to his home.

Farias was discovered missing after the dogs returned to his home unleashed.

Family said he had been dealing with ongoing symptoms of depression for several years. The symptoms first arose after the death of his older brother following a motorcycle accident.

A private investigator hired by the family recounted that Farias had witnessed his brother “die right in front of him” in 2015 and that the two were best friends. The PI implied that the event may have been a tipping point for Farias.

Aside from authorities announcing the reunification of Farias with his family, no comments have been made concerning his whereabouts for the last eight years. In 2018, a family member reported to police that they had seen Farias sleeping behind their residence, but the lead was a dead end.

He was not seen again until his discovery outside the Houston church by a good Samaritan on June 29th, 2023. Upon being reunited with his family, his mother released a statement saying that Farias is nonverbal.

Authorities have said he declined to go to the hospital. He chose instead to go home with his family.

Farias is scheduled to have a follow-up interview with investigators on June 5th.
