(RepublicanNews.org) – Republican Presidential Candidate Nikki Haley is trying to turn lemons into lemonade after a recent insult against her by unpopular CNN host Don Lemon.
Haley, 51, announced new merchandise for her presidential campaign bearing slogans such as “Past my prime?” and “Hold my beer.”
CNN host Don Lemon, 56, has been off the air since February 16th, when he insulted Haley’s presidential prospects by declaring that, at her age as a woman, “Nikki Haley is not in her prime, sorry.”
Lemons’ remarks clearly rankled his female co-hosts, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins, who peppered him on air with questions about what he meant. Seeming to realize he could not rescue himself, Lemon stammered about using Google to find out what it means when a woman is or is not “in her prime,” and about what “prime” means.
Harlow walked off the set in anger as soon as the segment ended.
Candidate Haley appears to be having a grand time re-purposing the insult with snappy one-liners on her campaign merchandise. On Twitter, she addressed supporters who were angered by Lemon’s remarks, saying, “this one’s for you.”
Don Lemon’s tenure at CNN has become troubled recently after he lost his primetime show to poor ratings, prompting the network to put him on a morning program. Industry rumors point to his unpopularity with his colleagues, who appear to consider him self-absorbed and egotistical.
Lemon’s crack about Haley’s age prompted the former U.N. Ambassador to mock the CNN host for his suggestion that elderly politicians be made to take a competency test. Clearly referring to President Joe Biden – who is widely believed to be in active senile dementia despite Democrat denials – Haley said it was liberals who couldn’t tolerate the idea of a competency test for elderly office holders.
Since CNN took Lemon off air Thursday, February 16th, CNN management said they will handle the issue by requiring Lemon to attend “training.” It is not clear what such training would include.
