(RepublicanNews.org) – A 1972 poll determined “the most trusted man in America” was former CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite. Sadly, the accuracy of news reporting has degraded since then. As a result, universities and government agencies started publishing guides to help Americans determine the credibility of news sources.
Former President Barack Obama weighed in on the media bias during a June 7 interview with CNN host Anderson Cooper. According to Obama, “certain right-wing” news outlets have “monetized” their operations by “stoking the fear” of the nation’s “white population.”

Continuing, Obama said conservative media outlets “do everything they can” to play on the “resentment of white[s].” He also said they give their audience the “sense” that “their way of life” is being threatened and others are attempting to “take advantage of them.”
Both conservative and liberal-leaning voters and politicians blame the media for rising divisiveness in the country. Perhaps it’s time for media outlets to shift their focus back to reporting the news instead of creating fear and division.
