Paperwork Filed To Censure Adam Schiff Hits Congress

( – While it does not have any co-sponsors, a resolution to censure and fine Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) from Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida was introduced on May 23 and sent to the House Ethics Committee.

Luna accuses the California Democrat of lying to the American public during the so-called “Russia-gate” scandal. When former President Donald Trump ran for the presidency in 2016, the majority of Democratic politicians and voters claimed Trump was a “puppet” propped up by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A report by special counsel Robert Mueller released in 2019 found no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion, and the recently released “Durham Report” by special counsel John Durham similarly turned up no evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Rep. Luna’s resolution against Adam Schiff calls for the House to censure Schiff for what Luna claims are his lies, and to fine him millions of dollars. In a written statement, Luna said the House had a duty to back her motion and “hold this feckless man accountable.”

Schiff responded by using one of President Joe Biden’s favorite epithets to describe Republicans who disagree with the Democratic position. Schiff said “MAGA extremists” filed the censure motion and that they want him to pay $16 million in fines because he “stood up” to Donald Trump and his supporters.

Rep. Luna pointed out the $16 million fine was half the cost American taxpayers fronted for the failed investigations against Trump.

Writing on Twitter, Schiff said the Republicans were “eight days away from defaulting on our debt” but that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and his “MAGA allies” were trying to silence him.

In 2017, Schiff was chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. At the time he claimed to have seen convincing evidence that Trump colluded with Russia to win the presidency. Schiff relied in part on the now discredited Steele dossier, an alleged intelligence report that claimed to have found Trump-Russia collusion, and also accused Trump of salacious private activities.
