(RepublicanNews.org) – They’ve glued their hands to the floor of a Volkswagen building, they’ve thrown soup on museum paintings, and now they’re targeting your tires.
Hard-left environmentalists are continuing their campaign of messing with other people’s property by deflating tires on sport utility vehicles. The vandals then leave pamphlets and notes on the car to let the owner know why.
An international group of self-described environmentalists is claiming responsibility for tire deflations in nearly 20 countries. The UK-based “Tyre Extinguishers” say their most recent successful action took place in Lisbon, Portugal. After letting the air out of the SUV tires, the group delighted in the annoyance they caused.
Taking a sarcastic tone, the group said “Oh no!”, and claimed they were getting news of angry motorists who would no longer be able to drive their “massive tanks” around cities.
The Tyre Extinguishers have been plying their trade in the US, too. Most recently in April, they claimed to be behind slashing the tires on 43 SUVs parked in Boston. The Daily Mail reports the “activists” left taunting notes on the windshields saying “Your gas guzzler kills.”
The group’s website gives visitors steps to deflate car tires quickly, along with a pamphlet that can be downloaded by members for “operations.” Most “activists” leave a pamphlet that tells the vehicle owner not to take the vandalism personally. “It’s not you, it’s your car,” the flyers gloat.
Tyre Extinguishers don’t mince words or pretend that they are trying gentle persuasion. They claim to be “people from all walks of life” who are defending themselves against climate change, reckless drivers, and pollution. They say they have one goal, which is to make it impossible own large vehicles and drive them in cities.
It is not clear whether the group finds it acceptable to own such a vehicle outside urban areas.
Tire-deflating vandals have claimed responsibility for letting the air out of more than 10,000 tires around the world.
