(RepublicanNews.org) – Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Dr. Anthony Fauci have locked horns during Senate hearings throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They’ve battled it out over mask mandates, school closures, and a host of other important issues. The two men had one of their biggest fallings out, perhaps the worst, earlier this week during a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee hearing.
Paul discussed his latest clash with Fauci during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on July 20. According to Paul, he has proof Fauci lied during previous testimony, and he’s sending a request for a criminal referral to the Department of Justice.

Here’s what happened. Fauci gave sworn testimony in May that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) didn’t fund gain-of-function research in Wuhan, China. Gain-of-function research involves deliberately boosting the properties of an organism to make it more dangerous to identify treatments for diseases.
Paul asked Fauci if he wanted to retract that testimony during Senate testimony earlier this week. Fauci said no, and went on a tirade telling the Senator, “you don’t know what you’re talking about.” Continuing, he accused Paul of lying.
Sen. Paul concluded his interview with Hannity, telling him in no uncertain terms he had proof Fauci lied to Congress and “should be punished.”
