(RepublicanNews.org) – Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has adopted a no-nonsense approach to dealing with Dr. Anthony Fauci during Senate hearings about the COVID-19 pandemic. He’s repeatedly called him out for alleged contradictory information regarding the necessity of wearing face masks and other preventative measures. His latest bout with Fauci concerned the possible origins of the coronavirus.
Paul didn’t hold anything back as he questioned Fauci during a Senate Health Committee hearing on May 11. He tore into Fauci, questioning the use of money from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund research at Wuhan’s Virology Institute. Reportedly, those funds were used for “gain-of-function research,” a dangerous kind of research that involves making viruses highly infectious and deadly.

Fauci snapped back, accusing Paul of being “entirely and completely incorrect.” He also denied the Wuhan laboratory project funded by the NIH involved gain-of-function research.
Experts remain uncertain about the origins of the COVID-19 virus. Finding answers to those questions and whether it resulted from research at the Wuhan lab could prevent future pandemics. In that light, Paul was justified for pressing so hard on Fauci. Americans need answers.
