Senator Ted Cruz Wears Pointed Come and Take it Mask to Inauguration

( – Tension surrounded the inauguration ceremony amid concerns regarding the possible threat of armed protesters disrupting the January 20 ceremony. However, the event concluded without any incidents. In fact, one could say the ceremony lacked its usual pomp — due to COVID-19 restrictions and Joe Biden’s “low energy” nature. It’s not like Donald Trump didn’t warn us about it.

Several Republicans attended, despite their efforts to challenge the Electoral College ballots cast for Biden during Congress’ joint session on January 6. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), the first senator to announce he would dispute the election results, attended along with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who told reporters he didn’t want to miss the event’s pageantry.

However, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) stood out from the crowd with his face mask, which included a star and a cannon and the words “Come and Take It,” a reference to Biden’s plan to target Second Amendment protections.

The Biden Gun Plan

Biden published his plan to curb gun violence on his campaign website for the entire world to see. As one might expect, it’s filled with inconsistencies and misrepresentations.

For instance, he falsely claimed that gun manufacturers receive immunity from legal liability for their products under the 2005 Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. In reality, gunmakers can be held accountable for manufacturing and design defects in their products.

He also accused the National Rifle Association (NRA) of employing bullying tactics to prevent firearm manufacturers from producing smart guns, a new technology that prevents unauthorized individuals from firing a weapon. Truth be told, the NRA has backed the production of smart guns.

Another disturbing portion of Biden’s gun policy is his backing of red flag laws. Serious questions surround their constitutionality as they enable family members and law enforcement officials to initiate the confiscation of firearms.

Final Thoughts

America averages more than 100 daily deaths related to firearms, leaving no doubt it’s an issue for Congress to consider. However, any meaningful legislation requires a truthful recitation of the facts. Biden’s inconsistencies, distortions, and misrepresentations of fact do not make Americans any safer. Arguably, it puts American lives at risk.
