Trump’s First-Term Legacy

Trump's First-Term Legacy

(RepublicanNews.org) – As the year draws to a close, the country anxiously awaits the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Although the Electoral College cast their ballots on Monday, December 14, the election remains far from complete.

Congress is scheduled to meet on January 6 to officially receive, count, and accept the Electoral College results. However, legislators may challenge the electors’ ballots’ results at that time, tossing the election into the House of Representatives’ hands for a final determination. This extreme step requires at least one senator and one representative to challenge the result.

That outcome already appears likely with Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) expected to challenge the Electoral College’s ballots. Additionally, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and others have indicated their willingness to contest the results on the Senate side. What happens at that point remains unclear since both the Senate and the House must vote in the affirmative to toss the Electoral College’s election results.

Additionally, former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell has two petitions docketed in the Supreme Court that could alter the election’s current status. However, the court set a January 14 deadline for defendants to file their responses to her petitions. So, it will likely be several weeks before SCOTUS hands down a ruling.

President Trump’s First-Term Accomplishments

With all these factors in play, and with President Donald Trump’s first term drawing to a close, now’s a perfect time to consider his numerous accomplishments thus far.

Below are but a few examples of President Trump’s many first-term achievements:

  • The biggest tax cut package in history putting over $300 billion back into the nation’s economy;
  • Elimination of a record number of regulations;
  • Obamacare’s individual mandate penalty eliminated;
  • Passage of right-to-try legislation;
  • Placement of hundreds of Conservative judges on the bench, including three Supreme Court Justices; and
  • Protection of religious freedom through numerous bills, nominations, and executive actions.

The complete list of accomplishments by President Trump would fill a set of books. Suffice it to say that his first term is one of the most productive in America’s 200+ year history.
