Tucker Carlson Says Kyle Rittenhouse Case Is a Historic Piece of Footage

(RepublicanNews.org) – The murder trial of Illinois teenager Kyle Rittenhouse is turning out to be a political and social nightmare for the prosecution. Rittenhouse took the stand in his defense on Wednesday to explain, in his own words, why he shot two men and injured another at a Black Lives Matter riot last summer in Kenosha, WI. Fox News host Tucker Carlson quickly responded to video footage of the trial, calling it both historic and bizarre.

In a recent opinion piece, Tucker Carlson draws attention to how one of the men Rittenhouse shot, Gaige Grosskreutz, recently changed his original story and admitted to inciting the teen to attack him on that fateful night.

When prosecutors initially asked Grosskreutz why he didn’t shoot first once close to Rittenhouse, he told them he wasn’t that kind of person. He said he had his hands raised as he closed in on the teen and never intended to shoot him in the first place.

The defense managed to poke holes in that story while Grosskreutz was on the stand, asking, “It wasn’t until you pointed your gun at him, advanced on him… that he fired, right?” Grosskreutz replied, “Correct.”

Carlson feels this admission alone should have been enough to end the trial. He says it ultimately proves Rittenhouse acted in self-defense. He says the entire trial has been one disaster after another — which may be why the defense has moved for a mistrial.

Rittenhouse and a friend originally traveled to Kenosha to offer medical aid to those in need and help protect local businesses from looters and fires. The teen went armed with a rifle, shot and killed two people, injured another, and is now on trial.

While the 17-year-old claims he acted in self-defense, the State of Wisconsin has charged him with three felony counts, including murder. At the time of the riots, Rittenhouse was armed with an AR-15 style semi-automatic weapon and a medical kit.

Grosskreutz, for his part, claimed he was in Kenosha to serve as a volunteer medic at the time. However, reports show he was carrying a loaded pistol with an expired concealed carry permit.
