GOP Leaders Urge Senate to Block DHS Picks
(UnitedVoice.com) – The crisis on the border is still raging nearly five months into President Joe Biden’s first term. Republicans are furious that the administration hasn’t done anything to put a stop to it. A group of House lawmakers sent the Senate a letter demanding they do something about it.
On Thursday, June 3, 31 House Republicans wrote the Senate urging them to stop Biden’s Department of Homeland Security nominees from being approved. The letter, addressed to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), said the nominees have either “helped develop the policies” that caused the crisis or “have shown an unwillingness to enforce immigration law.”
@RepAndyBiggsAZ & I are calling on @SenSchumer & @LeaderMcConnell to REJECT Biden’s DHS nominees.@CBP @USCIS @ICEgov are vital to our safety & security – we deserve for them to be led by people who will honor that responsibility. Full story

The nominees in question are Ur Jaddou, the nominee to lead USCIS, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez the man tapped to lead ICE, and Chris Magnus who Biden wants to head the Border Patrol. Gonzalez has been a critic of ICE in the past. Jaddou helped the Biden transition team review DHS’ policies and Magnus has defended sanctuary policies. None of them are strong supporters of the rule of law, so how can they lead?
