(RepublicanNews.org) – The White House’s list of guests for President Joe Biden’s February 7th State of the Union Address included stars and ordinary people who will likely appeal to the President’s liberal voter base.
Unsurprisingly, the list included U2 lead singer Bono, whom leftists see as something near a savior figure on issues of “global peace” and various other left-branded causes.
The parents of Tyre Nichols were also in attendance. Nichols was recently beaten to death by five police officers in Memphis, TN. The video of the brutal attack ignited fury online and in the media. The five officers involved have been charged with murder.
At first glance, it is difficult to tell how Nichols’ killing will be helpful to a President who often campaigns on the idea that America is a racist country with whites oppressing and murdering blacks. While the victim, Tyre Nichols, was black, so were the five cops charged with his murder.
But what is difficult may not be impossible; CNN commentator Van Jones said this week that racism was behind the killing of a black man by five other black men. He said that was because police officers are trained in a “white supremacist environment” that teaches them to see black neighborhoods as “war zones.”
Presidential administrations choose guests to appear at important speeches in order to create emotional bonds with prospective voters, and for the President to be seen appearing to be emotionally invested with those issues.
What may once have been an “open secret” isn’t really secret any longer. While it used wording that softened, the White House’s statements about its guest list confirm the intent.
The guests were chosen because they “personify issues or themes” the President will highlight in his address, according to a White House statement.
Also on the roster are former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul. Paul Pelosi was attacked in his home three months ago in the wee hours of the morning by a man wielding a hammer.
