Woke Target Stacey Abrams for Gas Stove

(RepublicanNews.org) – Thwarted gubernatorial hopeful Stacey Abrams appears to be learning that when you stare into the woke, they stare back at you.

The former gubernatorial candidate for Georgia has announced she’s joining a nonprofit called Rewiring America, an environmental group that pushes for the complete electrification of homes and businesses. The push to electrify has intensified in recent months as natural gas has become the latest dirty contaminant villainized by environmental activists.

Advocates for oil and natural gas took notice. The Oil and Gas Association (OGA) said on March 20th that Rewiring America was a “dark money enviro group working to ban our gas stoves.” They also noticed that Abrams depicted herself cooking on a gas stove in her campaign ads.

Call it a battle of the nonprofits and trade groups: The Empowerment Alliance, a nonprofit that advocates for natural gas as a fuel source, also jumped in. The group opposes the so-called “Green New Deal” of environmental and electrification initiatives pushed by House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The group found another commercial showing Abrams cooking with gas for her family, and said so on Twitter, asking, “Does her new employer know how much she loves natural gas?”

Twitter users poked fun at Abrams too, but public sentiment probably won’t matter much with regard to Abrams’ new role with Rewiring America. The group says Abrams will “launch and scale” a national campaign to raise “awareness” about why Americans need to “go electric.” The group said Abrams will be responsible for “connecting” Americans to electric appliances and installers.

Rewiring America has its fingers deep into the “ban gas” pie. The group’s research associate, Talor Gruenwald, happens to be listed as one of the lead authors of the study that kicked off the current vogue to demonize natural gas appliances. He co-wrote the study that claims to have found that home gas appliances, particularly gas cookstoves, account for more than 12 percent of childhood asthma cases.
