(RepublicanNews.org) – YouTube’s MrBeast made a shocking disclosure in a June 25th tweet, telling his followers that he had been invited on the now-doomed Titan submersible earlier this month. The superstar posted a screenshot of the text message invite he received.
“Kind of scary that I could have been on it,” he said in his post.
MrBeast, who off-screen is known as Jimmy Donaldson, is YouTube’s most-subscribed individual and his channel has 163 million followers. The 25-year-old rose to fame by taking part in elaborate stunts and dares. A tour of the Titanic wreckage would not have been out of character for his channel.
Donaldson’s tweet about the Titan invite was initially met with skepticism from some. Users pointed out that the screenshot provided by MrBeast was blue, suggesting that he had sent the message to himself. Donaldson later clarified his post and addressed the accusation. He said the screenshot was taken after the fact by the original sender and then provided to him, implying that the original sender had also narrowly escaped death.
Faulty engineering is said to be the reason behind the reported June 18th Titan submersible implosion. The frame of the craft appears to have succumbed to extreme outside water pressure. The pressure felt at the depth of the Titanic measures 400 times more than it does on the surface.
Had MrBeast joined the other occupants of the vessel that day as the sixth tourist, he would have sat alongside OceanGate Expeditions CEO Stockton Rush, French Navy commander Paul-Henri Nargeolet, British explorer Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman. All five men died.
Of those names, Dawood and Harding were billionaires. According to Forbes, MrBeast’s net worth as a content creator is about $500 million. With Donaldson’s influence now reaching far beyond YouTube, some have speculated that his business empire will eventually be worth billions. In 2022, MrBeast launched his own line of candy bars.
