(RepublicanNews.org) – Following his disappointing showing in the Iowa caucuses, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy of Ohio has decided to end his presidential campaign. Previously, Ramaswamy had pledged that he would see it through to the end.
When he announced his decision to halt his campaign after his fourth-place finish in the Iowa Caucuses, he said there’s no road for him to become president, barring things we do not want to happen in this nation.
A report shows that he called Donald Trump to congratulate him on his Iowa Caucus victory and let him know he has Ramaswamy’s complete support for the presidency. He believes they will do what is best for the nation. Therefore, he implored the crowd to join him in elevating the America First movement to new heights.
Ramaswamy’s disappointing showing in the Iowa caucuses and his inability to sustain the temporary boost he received during the second Republican debate in the summer has led to this latest development.
In February 2023, Ramaswamy began his campaign, making history as the youngest presidential candidate at 38.
He funded a large chunk of his campaign with tens of millions of dollars in personal finances and established several businesses.
With almost 90% of the votes in, Ramaswamy only managed to get 7.7% of the support from caucus-goers. This is even though he made history by being the first presidential hopeful to visit all 99 counties in Iowa twice.
Much of Ramaswamy’s campaign revolved around his endorsement of Trump. Towards the end of his campaign, he wrote an amicus brief urging the US Supreme Court to reverse the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to strike Trump’s name off the primary ballot.
Last week, Ramaswamy implored Republican supporters to choose him as party leader, claiming only he could save Trump and his record. He advised that doing this is a top priority. Much criticism was directed at Ramaswamy because of the remark.
