(RepublicanNews.org) – Critics of former President Donald Trump caught him in a PR fumble recently after he failed to mention his wedding anniversary to former First Lady Melania Trump yet posted a string of rants about columnist E. Jean Carroll, who is currently engaged in a civil lawsuit with the former president.
Monday, January 22nd, marked the 19th anniversary of Trump and Melania. Instead of acknowledging the occasion on his social media platform, Truth Social, the former president spent the day raging against a woman who accused him of assault in 1996 and then sued him for defamation in 2022.
Although she’s stepped back from the spotlight ever since Trump left office, Melania recently made it back into the headlines after the death of her mother, Amalija Knavs, at the age of 78 on January 9th. Perhaps Trump was trying to keep the spotlight off of his wife as she mourns the loss of her mother, but it’s unclear why he didn’t mention their anniversary.
Trump attended two days of the trial against him by Carroll in New York City but skipped the hearing on Thursday, January 18th, to fly back to Florida and attend Knavs’ funeral at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea, located near his Mar-a-Lago estate. Although Trump didn’t mention their 19th anniversary, he did repost a message from his wife the week prior, after her mother’s death, in which she thanked everyone who reached out to give their condolences.
Meanwhile, the former president has been wrapped up in a defamation trial in New York and contending with a judge who almost expelled him from the hearings and who Trump believes is biased against him. The judge also rebuked one of his defense attorneys, Alina Habba. Habba later requested an adjournment due to health issues, delaying Trump’s expected testimony.
Trump and his wife met in September 1998, after the former president separated from Marla Maples. He proposed at the Met Gala in April 2004 and then tied the knot with Melania on January 22nd, 2005. Their son, Barron, was born about a year later.
