Democrats Take Things Too Far After SCOTUS Immunity Ruling

(RepublicanNews.org) – After the U.S. Supreme Court announced its pivotal ruling upholding presidential immunity for official acts conducted by a president while in office, Democrats across social media cracked from the news. Some of them went as far as to claim that now President Joe Biden and his administration can pretty much do whatever they want, including executing their political enemies.

On Monday, July 1st, the Supreme Court ruled in a vote of 6-3, with every conservative justice for and every liberal justice against, that presidents have immunity for actions taken while they are in office, including actions that fall on the outer limits of official acts, such as commentary on events and topics important to American life. The decision is pivotal because it means some charges against former President Donald Trump related to alleged election interference could be dropped, and that he possibly should never have been prosecuted at all.

Democrats immediately blasted the decision as dangerous. President Joe Biden called it “a terrible disservice” to the American people, and said the country was founded on the principle of having “no kings” and that “no one is above the law,” including the president. Biden said the Supreme Court’s ruling “fundamentally changed” that principle, which he said he dissents.

The president said the ruling means there are “virtually no limits” on what he and other presidents can do, and social media users echo this sentiment. Many posted after the ruling that Biden could now technically bomb Trump and get away with it.

Republicans responding to such comments said the Democratic pundits, lawmakers, and voters saying such things were only showing their true colors and their ignorance of the law. Presidential immunity does not grant a president a free pass to break the law.

Opponents of Trump believe the ruling will help him seek revenge on his political enemies for prosecuting him. Trump has clarified numerous times that he does not seek vengeance and that his retribution will be his “success.”
