Former Obama Supporter Flips To Trump

(RepublicanNews.org) – Shortly after the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, a long-time Democratic Party donor abandoned President Joe Biden and endorsed the former president in the upcoming election.

Bill Ackman has donated to the campaigns of Biden, former President Barack Obama, and other Democrats over the years, but he is not switching sides. On Sunday, July 14, a day after Trump survived an attempt on his life in Butler County, Pennsylvania, Ackman announced an official endorsement of the former president.

The shooting left one Trump supporter dead and two others injured. The former president was struck in the ear, and footage shows that he would have been hit directly if he had not turned his head at the exact moment he did, causing the bullet to graze him. The former president said he heard one bullet whiz past his ear shortly before the other grazed him and the Secret Service jumped in to protect him. After he managed to fire eight rounds, a Secret Service sniper killed the suspect, later identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks.

A wave of support poured in for Trump in response to the incident, including from such figures as Elon Musk, who officially endorsed the former president in the upcoming election.

Ackman slammed the mainstream media in his announcement, which he accused of behaving “like sports teams.” He said the media aren’t “the unbiased arbiters of the truth.” The former Democratic donor told readers to “keep an open mind” when considering how they frame Trump.

A few weeks ago, Ackman signaled his waning support for Biden by criticizing his first debate performance. He also blamed First Lady Jill Biden for encouraging her husband to stay in the race, claiming she is only doing so out of fear that she will become “irrelevant” when he is no longer president. Ackman said he believes Jill Biden wants to keep the president in office because she fears losing the “glamorous life” she lives as First Lady.
