Lara Trump Set to Ascend as RNC Co-Chairwoman

(RepublicanNews.org) – Former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, is officially the former president’s recommendation for Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chairwoman. If appointed, it would mark a major step in her political career.

Although Lara Trump isn’t the only member of the former president’s family involved in his political efforts, she has made efforts to expand her career into electoral politics throughout the last few years. The former president is now rewarding those efforts by endorsing her for the high RNC position as the Republican Party is expected to merge with his presidential campaign.

In an official statement, he called his daughter-in-law “an extremely talented communicator” and said she agreed to run as co-chair. He said she’s “dedicated to all that MAGA stands for.”

Lara Trump has been involved with her father-in-law’s political efforts since 2016. And while her efforts to stay involved have increased, other family members have pulled back, such as Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who says he will turn down any offers to serve in Trump’s administration if he returns to the White House in 2025. Kushner told reporters that he is enjoying the time with his family “out of the spotlight.”

Trump’s recommendations for a change of house are welcome as confidence in RNC leadership has dwindled, especially in the current chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, whose relationship with the former president is also deteriorating.

Conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk praised Trump’s recommendation and said he’s been advocating for months for her to take on the “critical role.” Kirk said he’s known Lara Trump “a long time” and that she is “fantastic.” Kirk added that he’s “thrilled” Trump is supporting her for co-chair and Chris LaCivita for Chief Operating Officer (COO). He says both picks “respect the base” of the Republican Party and called it “a massive WIN for the grassroots.”

As a replacement for McDaniel, Trump recommends Michael Whatley, the Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. Trump said Whatley is committed “to election integrity” and eliminating election fraud.
