Ranchers Near Border Give Harrowing Testimony

(RepublicanNews.org) – Two ranchers in Arizona made an appearance at the Republican National Convention (RNC) and shared their testimony about how the immigration surge at the U.S.-Mexico border impacted their lives.

Arizona ranchers Jim and Sue Chilton live in Arivaca along the southern border and Jim’s family have lived on the ranch for generations. The couple spoke as guests at the RNC and testified to the dire situation at the border. Sue told the convention that every time her husband leaves the ranch, she fears that he will not return due to the increased cartel activity.

Sue told the RNC delegates that their home was “broken into twice” and told the story of an agent of U.S. Border Patrol who “was shot five times” on their ranch by “drug smugglers.” She said the smugglers cross the border daily bringing “lethal drugs.”

Security cameras on the Chiltons’ ranch have captured over 3,500 illegal aliens, many of which are drug traffickers wearing camouflage, passing through their property. He said those individuals were not asylum-seekers and that their increasing presence “looks and feels like an invasion.” Jim added that he believes “it is.”

The Chiltons spoke in defense of Trump because they said they could attest first-hand that things were different at the border when he was in office. Jim told the attendees and delegates that he knows Trump will “stop it again” if brought back into office. He said their experiences prove that the open border policies of President Joe Biden are the “greatest national security threat” to the nation.

Jim said that crossings on his family ranch “increased fivefold” under the Biden administration and that Trump must be elected so he could “finish the wall,” “stop the cartels,” and keep the country “safe and strong.”

According to a House Budget Committee report, the border has seen over 8 million encounters nationwide under Biden’s watch, and 6.7 million of those encounters were at the Southwest border. There have also been over 1.7 million “got-aways,” which are illegal aliens who manage to evade Border Patrol and now live in the U.S. undocumented and without undergoing any vetting process.
