Top Republican Hopeful for Spot in Next Trump Administration

(RepublicanNews.org) – Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) says that he would consider any position offered to him by the presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Cotton was questioned on who might make the cut for Trump’s cabinet and which position Cotton would be most interested in on Sunday, June 16th. He opted not to commit himself to any theories about who else would be in the running for the various positions available but voiced his support for Trump and whatever decisions he makes regarding the matter.

Trump has so far remained tight-lipped about who he plans to pick for the vice-presidential role and seems to have enjoyed keeping the candidates in suspense. He is expected to announce his final decision at the Republican National Convention, which takes place this year in Milwaukee between July 15th and 18th.

Cotton’s name is just one of many that have been floated during recent discussions of possible running mates for the GOP candidate. Others reportedly under consideration are Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY), Sen. J.D. Vance (OH), and Sen. Tim Scott (SC). Sen. Marco Rubio has also been name-dropped by Trump, although he would not be able to serve as vice president under Trump while both are listed as residents of Florida.

When asked about what answer he would give, if asked to serve as Trump’s running mate, Cotton said he would definitely “entertain” the possibility. He added that anybody should seriously consider a request from the president to “serve in any capacity” and said that he was certain Trump’s picks would represent a good choice for the country, whoever ended up making the cut.

Cotton was quick to state that whether or not Trump does ultimately offer him a position, he remained happy to represent Arkansas as a senator. He said that his focus would be on working to get Trump elected and to see his party achieve a majority in Congress so that they could work to “repair some of the damage” inflicted upon the country by Joe Biden’s term in the White House.
