(RepublicanNews.org) – As talk of a new second-term political roadmap for former President Donald Trump called “Project 2025” begins spreading on social media amongst the public, the former president said he has “nothing to do” with it.
Project 25, subtitled as the “Presidential Transition Project,” is a political roadmap of issues conservatives would like to see focused on during Trump’s second term. It was created by the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation. Some of those key issues include abortion, the southern border, immigration, environmental protections, and how to contend with overreach by the expansion of “LGBTQ+ rights.” Part of the initiative also calls for some house cleaning in the federal sector by replacing those jobs with conservatives willing to make headway on policies related to the agenda.
As talk of the project spread across social media throughout the past week, even making it to the House floor in a recent subcommittee hearing in which the project was associated with Trump, the former president responded to the news in a post on his social media platform Truth Social. Trump claims he knows “nothing about Project 2025” or who’s “behind it.” He also said that he disagrees “with some of the things” on the agenda and that some of what they say is “ridiculous and abysmal.”
Trump wished those behind the political initiative “luck” in their endeavors, but clarified that he has “nothing to do with them.”
The day before Trump’s remarks, the president of the Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, appeared on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” and said the US was in the middle of a “second American Revolution,” one that could happen without violence “if the left allows” that to happen. Roberts said the GOP is “taking this country back.”
Some of Trump’s critics responded to his claims by pointing out that several individuals behind Project 2025 were close Trump allies, meaning that it was unlikely the former president was previously unaware of the initiative before the news broke.
