Zelenskyy Invites Trump to See Warzone Firsthand

(RepublicanNews.org) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again invited former President Donald Trump to visit Ukraine for a tour of the front lines in the ongoing war with Russia.

On Thursday, February 22nd, Zelenskyy appeared on Fox News and re-upped an offer to Trump to give him a tour of the active war zones in Ukraine. The Ukrainian president told Bret Baier, host of “Special Report,” that he suggested Trump comes and said he’s “ready to go with him.” Zelenskyy conducted the interview virtually while stationed in Kupiansky, about a mile from the eastern frontlines where Russian troops are positioned.

The Ukrainian president added that maybe Trump wants to go without him, which he said “doesn’t matter” to him, as long as Trump comes to see the people and “speak to them on the street.” Baier then asked Zelenskyy would he would say to Trump if he does decide to visit the frontlines. Zelenskyy replied that Trump’s “eyes” and “ears” would “tell him what’s going on.”

It’s not the first time the Ukrainian president has invited Trump to visit since Russia invaded on February 24th, 2022. Yet, last week at the Munich Security Conference was the first time Zelenskyy took it as far as inviting the 77-year-old Trump to the frontlines and offered to go with him.

Zelenskyy also told Baier that his invitation extends to others as well and that he would be “happy to see” all of the presidential candidates and all “decision-makers” that support Ukraine come and visit to “understand what the war… means” and how it began. The Ukrainian president said his country is “beautiful,” but that war creates “another picture.”

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump recently urged Congress not to approve any more funding to Ukraine for its war effort unless it’s done in the form of a loan. In March 2023, he also boasted that he could bring the conflict to an end “within 24 hours” if elected for a second term in the White House.

Zelenskyy says he’s willing to work with Trump to “solve this problem” and will hear his ideas. He believes that once Trump sees “what’s going on” in Ukraine, he “will change his mind” about the war and see that Russian President Vladimir Putin is the only enemy.
